ABOUT MARY
Hi, I’m Mary, and I am a Multimedia Journalist/ Reporter at WBAY-TV Action 2 News in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I’ve worked in print, television, photo, and broadcast journalism, allowing me to learn how to tell impactful, timely stories in nearly every medium.
I just graduated from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a degree Multimedia Journalism and Legal Studies certificate. I was lucky to have received multiple awards for my work during college, including the College of Media’s Bill Geist Prize for Broadcast Writing and the Lulu Kelly Award.
I’ve interned at both CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell in Washington, D.C. (2024) and CBS Mornings in New York City (2025), gaining firsthand experience inside two of the country’s busiest national newsrooms. In D.C., I worked closely with the production team running scripts, pitching stories, and even field-producing for a CBS Reports story while shadowing correspondents on Capitol Hill and at the White House. At CBS Mornings, I produced my own story for the 9AM hour, shadowed producers and correspondents in the field, and worked on the Times Square set with live segment producers, talent, and anchor assistants.
In college, I was a director, anchor, and executive producer for UI7 Newsroom, the student-run TV station. I’ve anchored and reported for some of the award-winning channel’s programs, including Good Morning Illini, UI7 Live, The Quad, and Illinois in Session. I have won three awards for these programs, including one Crystal Pillar from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Mid-America Chapter) and two awards from the Illinois News Broadcasters Association. From covering local and campus events in the field to managing live productions in the studio, I’ve seen how every piece of the newsroom works. I’m excited to grow in my understanding and learn even more about every aspect of broadcast news.
Beyond video, I’ve also worked as a multimedia reporter at Illinois Public Media, creating weekly stories for both print and broadcast while handling still photography. As news editor for The Daily Illini, the university’s independent student paper, I oversaw all news content and managed a team of over 15 reporters. Those experiences in print and radio journalism are what first drew me into this field, and they gave me important groundwork to learn how to tell stories effectively.
